An early morning crash on the Long Beach Freeway caused several other vehicles to collide into each other. The crash involved five cars and left 10 people injured. The accident happened north of Long Beach Boulevard around 2:15 a.m.
A witness at the scene said the initial accident prompted the Long Beach Fire Department to place flares on the freeway, and confusion with the pattern after the wreckage cleared caused a car to slow down.
The witness said at least three additional vehicles crashed into that car.
A victim of the crash told a camera crew at the scene that she saw fire on the road and slowed down, and was then hit by another car.
The police are still investigating the accident. It appears that there were only minor injuries suffered and no one was taken to the hospital.
