Comments Off

Evenflo Top-of-Stair Plus Wood Gates have been recalled in the U.S. and Canada because the slats on the gate can break or detach posing a fall hazard.

To this date, Evenflo has received 142 reports of the slats breaking and/or detaching.

Three children gained access to stairs, one of which fell down five steps and another child fell down one step. Injuries included four children who sustained bumps and bruises to the head and seven children sustained minor injuries, according to the CPSC News Release.

Evenflo Top-of-Stair Plus Wood Gates with model numbers 10502 and 10512 are involved in the recall. The gates were sold at Kmart, Toys R Us and other mass merchandise stores nationwide from October 2007 through July 2009.

Consumers should stop using the recalled gate and contact Evenflo at (800) 233-5921 or visit their Web site at safety.evenflo.com for a free replacement gate.
